Setting up a Jumia Affiliate Shop

Setting up a Jumia Affiliate Shop

In this tutorial, we will be building a Jumia.com.ng powered affiliate shop using the affiliate shop plugin for Jumia.

I assume you have WordPress, WooCommerce plugin, and a WooCommerce supported theme preferably Storefront together with a SEO plugin (WordPress SEO by Yoast and SEO Ultimate are currently only supported) installed.

Setting up WooCommerce and Storefront Theme

Firstly, let’s do some WooCommerce configuration.

  • Click on settings in WooCommerce menu link and navigate to the General tab.

  • Select Nigeria as your Base Location and Nigerian Naira as Currency beneath Currency Options.

  • Navigate to the Products tab, click the “Display” sub menu link and ensure the product’s image dimension conforms to that which is shown in the image below.

Let’s go over the few steps in setting up Storefront theme by WooTheme, makers of WooCommerce.

  • Create a page with name “Welcome to [your site name here]” (or whatever name you deem fit), and be sure to select Homepage as the page attribute from the right-hand side metabox.
    WordPress page template selection

  • Still in WordPress dashboard, click “Reading” under Settings menu.
  • Select the page you created earlier as the website front page and save.

Configuring the Jumia Affiliate Shop Plugin

Before we go over to the plugin setup, we first have to create WooCommerce categories for the products we wish to promote or include in our affiliate shop and grab our Jumia affiliate URL.

Creating WooCommerce Categories

  • Click the “Categories” link beneath the WooCommerce Products menu.

The segment of the affiliate link below is what the affiliate shop plugin for Jumia will be needing i.e. you should stop the copy before http%3A//.http://marketing.net.jumia.com.ng/ts/i3556158/tsc?amc=aff.jumia.24241.28094.8394&rmd=3&trg=

Configuring Jumia Affiliate Shop Plugin

When the Jumia shop plugin is installed and activated, a new “Jumia Shop” admin menu will be added to WordPress.

Click the menu to go to the plugin settings page.

The plugin settings is divided into Configuration and Product Setup.

The configuration section is intuitive and pretty easy to do. See screenshot below.

The product setup section is also pretty straight-forward and easy. Select a category and input the corresponding Jumia category link.

For example, say you created a Clothing category for your Affiliate shop. The corresponding Jumia link is http://www.jumia.com.ng/clothing/. Copy and paste the link to the Product Sources text area for the category.

Say you want to include shoes to the “Clothing” category, separate the URLs with a comma like so:
http://www.jumia.com.ng/clothing/, http://www.jumia.com.ng/mens-shoes/, http://www.jumia.com.ng/womens-shoes/

Once done, save the changes.

At this juncture, we are pretty much done setting up the plugin. To import products immediately from Jumia.com.ng without having to wait for the plugin cron job to run, click the “Force Sync” button.

Preview your website and you will see the products belong to the various categories being displayed.

Deal9ja.com is an example of an affiliate shop built with the Jumia affiliate shop plugin.

Can i use the personal package on my various sub – domains Since they are still part of my site

    • collizo4sky says:

Hi, a subdomain / domain does not define the term “site” in our pricing plan.

By site, we meant “per WordPress install” thus if you have WordPress installed in three subdomains or a folder relative to your roo domain, they are technically three site.

      Hope that answers your question.

Can i buy the personal package and later upgrade to the business or the agency ? if Yes what are the procedure and cost for each upgrade

    • collizo4sky says:

You can always upgrade to the business or agency plan anytime.

When the time arrives, simply goto https://affiliateshop.com.ng/pricing and purchase the upgraded plan of your choice.

Note: if you bought the personal license and decided to upgrade within 7days of purchase, you will only pay the difference between the personal and the plan you wish to upgrade to.

After 7days, you will have to pay the full price of the upgraded plan. No discount.

  • Odira says:

Hello, does this plugin have widget that can be used to display products on the sidebar?

    • Agbonghama Collins says:

Hi, WooCommerce (that the plugin leverages on) has a widget for that built-in thus we need not reinvent the wheel.

  • John says:

Can I use MARKET theme to set up the affiliate Shop?

  • John says:

It’s a Magento theme not WooCommerce theme. Secondly it is an online shop theme and not affiliate Shop theme, can it still be good for this jumia affiliate Shop?

    • Agbonghama Collins says:

II haven’t used the Market theme thus can’t say if it will work. Like I aforementioned, any WooCommerce compatible WordPress theme will work.

  • jammar says:
